My name is Rudy Roesel. I have been involved with internet marketing for about 10 years. I say “involved” but what I mean to say is, I’ve been an avid learner who never took significant action to become successful online.
I spent literally $1,000’s on internet marketing training, software, e-books, membership sites, etc. I have a personal collection of over 15,000 items. I certainly do not lack for resources.
You might ask, after 10 years of procrastination, what was my motivation to finally take action? It was a combination of events that happened recently over a relatively short period of time.
Here’s my story.
I completed a 26 year career with the U.S. Air Force in 1993. I taught AFJROTC at an inner city high school for 6 years after I “retired.” I burned out on teaching and became a car salesman. I did this for 6 more years. I was quite successful. I “retired” a second time in 2005.
Since then I have dabbled in internet marketing and mystery shopping to supplement my retirement income and stay active.
A few months ago I came across an article in International Living. I had subscribed to their mailing list. This is company promotes living the life of an ex-pat in countries around the world. I love travel and the life changing experiences that it brings.
For example, I met and married my wife of 35+ years in Germany. She is an American who was raised in England. She joined the Air Force while living in England. She wanted to return to the “states”.
Fortunately for me, her first assignment was to Germany. What are the odds? We met, fell in love, toured Europe together for two years, then I returned to the U.S. She joined me a few months later when her tour ended.
About 10 years later we received orders for England. That’s where my wife’s family lived. We were very excited about the opportunity to be near them.
We had a great time touring throughout the United Kingdom. Our daughter was born at RAF Lakenheath where I was stationed. I was an avid golfer, so we attended 3 British Opens (major golf tournaments) during our tour. I also developed a love affair with single malt whisky (Scotch and Irish).
We were able to visit my wife’s family quite often. We are very thankful for this assignment as my mother-in-law passed away just as our tour ended, Fortunately, she was able to spend her last years with all of her family nearby.
Well, this article stirred up very fond memories of living abroad. We both enjoy meeting people from different cultures, visiting historic sites, and eating the different national dishes. I really felt the urge to travel again.
About a month ago I read The 4-Hour Workweek by Tim Ferriss. If you haven’t read it, I strongly recommend that you do. It was an epiphany for me. I realized with my knowledge of internet marketing I could live anywhere I chose. I now had a goal (to travel) and a practical way to make it happen (create an online business). All I had to do was take action.
I did further research and found several highly recommended training programs. Any of them could provide the impetus I needed to finally do something with my knowledge.
I chose Wealthy Affiliate to serve as my conduit. While I knew much of the information being taught about affiliate marketing I lacked the “take action” component. WA forced me to take action. I will be eternally grateful.
I would like you to follow along with me on my journey. I will share what knowledge I have about internet marketing. I will also keep you up to date on my progress. Feel free to contact me at anytime if you have questions or comments. You can reach me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I have set some goals to achieve by July 4, 2018. Among these are being debt free, earning at least $5,000 a month in passive income, learning to speak Spanish, and moving to Costa Rica or some beautiful Caribbean isle.
Only time will tell if my dreams will come true. I hope WA, its members, and you will help me reach my goals. If you want to live the Wealthy Affiliate Life, join me in this challenge. I guarantee you it will be a fun and rewarding journey.
